I ordered this to replace a traditional narrow “racing” type seat on a bike. Why? because for casual riding in a more upright position, it is nice to have a wider platform from which to observe and enjoy your environment. I also liked the idea of having more airflow and less pressure on my backside and spine that this design supposedly accommodates. Lastly, my older backside simply appreciates more space. In my experience, memory foam (even with cooling beads) gets hot after a while–but bike seats get hot anyway, so the airflow should make a difference. RESULTS: I admit it looks a bit odd on the bike, but not awful. It provides the support and at least some airflow. After riding for a while, the memory foam conforms a bit better than at the start, but it is still softer at the start than what it replaced. This seat says it has “ball” support vs spring coils–I’m not sure that is better on a road bike. I think the coil springs did a better job of absorbing a bit of the road roughness. Of course, that’s not an issue with a stationary bike. The memory foam does helps absorb things–I just wish there could be both coils and foam for smoothing the ride. I would rate this about 3.6–another full star if metal spring coils were used. WISH LIST: (1) I wish a lighter color (beige?) was available: Bikes sit out in the sun and black gets hot. Also, some bike color schemes do not mesh well with black. (2) Metal Coil springs for road bikes would be good.
